Funding Cancer Research at The Ottawa Hospital
The funds raised by Ride the Rideau will go directly to support cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), one of Canada’s leading centres for cancer research.
Our cancer research team is focusing on the use of viruses, cells, and genes to develop therapies that are considered to have the most potential for eradicating cancer. A new cancer research floor at the hospital is expected to help cut the time between lab discoveries and patient trials in half. Laboratory scientists and clinicians are working together to develop the next generation of therapies, which will be customized to each patient and won’t have the traditional side effects of chemotherapy and radiation.
This all adds up to hope for the future and better outcomes for cancer patients.
